2026

Fix

Victorian stamp duty correction & further data checks

Corrected Victorian land transfer (stamp) duty for properties between $960,000 and $2,000,000, and above $2,000,000, to match the State Revenue Office's published rates exactly — the previous figures were understated by about $130 in those bands (a $1.5M home is $82,500, not $82,370; a $3M home is $175,000). Also refreshed Queensland car and WA motorcycle CTP premiums to their current 2025-26 amounts, and removed an outdated reference to APRA's interest-only lending cap (the 30% benchmark ended in January 2019).

Rate Update

First Home Guarantee expanded — income caps and place limits removed

From 1 October 2025 the federal Home Guarantee Scheme (now the 5% Deposit Scheme) dropped its income caps and the 35,000-place annual limit entirely — places are now unlimited and there is no income test. The same applies to the Family Home Guarantee 2% single-parent stream (previously capped at $125k income / 5,000 places). Property price caps were raised and are now set per capital (Sydney $1.5M, Melbourne $950k, Brisbane $1M, Canberra $1M, Perth $850k, Adelaide $900k, Hobart $700k, Darwin $600k). Our First Home Buyer calculator and state comparison reflect the new rules.

Rate Update

Child Care Subsidy '3 Day Guarantee' from January 2026

From 5 January 2026 the old CCS activity test was replaced by the '3 Day Guarantee': every eligible family automatically receives a minimum of 72 subsidised hours per fortnight (about 3 days a week) regardless of activity. The previous tiered structure (8-16 hrs activity → 36 hrs, 16-48 hrs → 72 hrs) is gone; the only remaining threshold is more than 48 hours of activity, which lifts entitlement to 100 hours. The Childcare Subsidy calculator now uses the new rules.

Rate Update

Vehicle registration & CTP costs refreshed for 2025-26

Updated registration and CTP/Green Slip figures across NSW, NT, ACT, WA and QLD against each state's current 2025-26 schedule (e.g. NSW average car CTP ~$608, NT engine-size based rego, WA mass-based licence fee). Important EV change: the ACT's free EV registration, Tasmania's 2-year EV concession and Victoria's $100 ZLEV discount have all ended — electric vehicles now pay the same registration as a comparable petrol car in those states.

Fix

Accuracy corrections: ACT first home grant, parental leave & state concessions

Several figures corrected to current 2025-26 values: the ACT no longer pays a cash First Home Owner Grant (abolished 1 July 2019, replaced by the Home Buyer Concession Scheme); Parental Leave Pay reserves 3 weeks (15 days) for the second parent for children born from 1 July 2025, rising to 4 weeks from July 2026; Queensland's first home vacant land concession and South Australia's $15,000 FHOG both had their property value caps removed.

Fix

Family Tax Benefit under-payment fixed

Family Tax Benefit Part A now correctly picks the more generous of Method 1 vs Method 2 for incomes above the higher threshold (was under-paying). Account-Based Pension minimum drawdown now rounds correctly per SIS Reg 1.07A.

Rate Update

NSW stamp duty brackets updated (CPI indexed)

NSW Revenue updated all transfer duty bracket thresholds from 1 July 2025 per CPI indexation. New thresholds: $17,000 / $37,000 / $99,000 / $372,000 / $1,240,000 / $3,721,000 (premium). Our NSW stamp duty and first home buyer calculators now reflect these rates.

Rate Update

NSW foreign buyer surcharge increased to 9%

The NSW surcharge purchaser duty increased from 8% to 9% effective 1 January 2025. Our Stamp Duty Calculator has been updated for NSW foreign buyer purchases.

Rate Update

Medicare Levy Surcharge thresholds updated

MLS thresholds indexed for 2025-26. Single: $101,001 / $118,001 / $144,001. Family: $202,001 / $236,001 / $288,001 (plus $1,500 per dependent child after the first). Family uplift now properly reflected in the UI.

Feature

Privacy Policy updated with GDPR and CCPA sections

Added explicit sections on GDPR (European users) and CCPA (California residents) rights. Also added Children's Privacy section and offline data disclosure for the mobile app.

New Calculator

Four new calculators added

Tax Return Estimator (with 6 deduction categories and refund estimate), PAYG Withholding Calculator, ABN Lookup Tool (validates ABN format and has no-ABN withholding helper), and BAS Calculator (GST on sales/purchases, PAYG instalment and withholding).

Rate Update

Victoria land tax brackets updated

Updated VIC land tax brackets to current SRO Victoria rates (2024-2033 COVID debt repayment plan rates included in base amounts). Fixed bracket values for $300K-$600K, $600K-$1M, $1M-$1.8M, $1.8M-$3M, and over $3M.

Fix

Salary Sacrifice Calculator SG calculation corrected

Per ATO rules, employer Super Guarantee should be calculated on the full ordinary time earnings, not the reduced salary after sacrifice. Fixed — the calculator now correctly shows that salary sacrifice does not reduce your SG entitlement.

Fix

Centrelink assets test now uses tapering

Services Australia applies a $3 per fortnight reduction for every $1,000 above the lower assets threshold, not a pass/fail cutoff. Our Centrelink Calculator now correctly tapers payments between lower and upper thresholds and shows partial payment amounts.

Fix

Super Contribution excess tax calculation fixed

Excess concessional contributions are now taxed at your marginal rate with a 15% offset for tax already paid by the fund (per ATO rules), instead of a flat 47% rate.

Fix

First Home Buyer stamp duty calculation improved

Replaced the rough 4% estimate with the actual bracket-based stamp duty calculation for all states, with proper FHB exemption and linear concession interpolation between exempt and concession thresholds.

Rate Update

Centrelink payment rates indexed (March 2026)

Updated JobSeeker, Age Pension, Parenting Payment, and Rent Assistance rates per Services Australia indexation on 20 March 2026. Single JobSeeker: $795.20/fn. Single Age Pension: $1,200.90/fn (includes supplements).

Rate Update

2025-26 financial year rates applied

All tax brackets, Medicare thresholds, HECS-HELP marginal rates, and super contribution caps set for the 2025-26 financial year. Super Guarantee rate is 12%. HECS-HELP uses the new marginal repayment system (threshold $67,000).
