Frequently Asked Questions

How do I compare two job offers fairly?
Compare take-home pay, not gross salary. A higher headline number can shrink once you account for whether super is included in the package, HECS repayments (which step up with income), and Medicare. This calculator applies the same tax settings to both offers so the difference you see is the real after-tax gap per year and per week.
Should I compare salaries including or excluding super?
Always convert both offers to the same basis first. If one offer is quoted as a package (super included) and the other as base plus super, tick 'Package includes super' for the package offer — the calculator strips the 12% guarantee out so both columns compare base salaries and show super separately.
